Non-Oxidizing Annealing & Hardening

We run a large furnace with 30m3 internal size: we can use the whole volume for annealing or hardening, and we can run the oven with non-oxidizing atmosphere ! Through the use of separate loading tables we can reduce downtime to a minimum.

A programmable logic controller PLC realizes complex heating- and holding- and cooling procedures, depending on requirements. A separate datalogger documents the effective temperatures, and the data is transferred via USB to PC and paper; these documents accompany the final products to the customer. In addition, we also measure Brinell-hardness before and after heat treatment, and also tensile test pieces according to DIN 50125 are manufactured and tested regularly..

The current series-order for exhaust-manifolds for a 6-cylinder truck diesel-engine, with 19 kg/part, consists of:
  • manual grinding and cleaning of outside and inside of the manifold
  • annealing in non-oxidizing atmosphere according to Daimler-Norm
  • due to the non-oxidizing atmosphere, the manifolds remain corrosion-free, even on the inside, which is crucial for the gas-feed to valves and pistons in the final engine
  • shot-peening in a hanging-rails shot-peening system for perfect cleanliness
  • quality-procedures with measurements of hardness and tensile strenght

On the inside the furnace has a length of 5,60 m, an area of 1,78 x 1,58 m, and a total installed power of 1,2 Megawatts. With this power, we can heat up e.g. 10 tons of steel up to 750°C in below 3 hours. The rating of the furnace is 1200 °C. This furnace is probably the largest non-oxidizing furnace in Germany..

Typical applications of this furnace are:
  • annealing and normalizing of steel and aluminium
  • structural changes and improvements and tempering of castings
  • hardening of ADI-castings, with a final quenching in salt bath
  • hardening of high-alloyed tool-steel up to 1100 °C, especially for hotworking tool steel 1.2343
  • due to the size and the feeding tables, the furnace is especially suitable for:
    • series-parts with large quantities in short time
    • for single parts with excessive dimensions
  • subsequently, we can machine the parts and paint them automatically
  • our facilities are large enough to load and unload complete trucks every day, so that all non-painted parts are safe from corrosion.
The furnace is currently only in use for 20%, so there is ample capacity for your application!
